Cold calls.

I'm making them today. This is pretty easy - I'm checking information. Usually it's more difficult - it's trying to pitch stories to journalists. But either way, I hate it. So many people are so curt and downright rude and it's just a completely ego-shriveling exercise. And, of course, since I hate it, it makes me nervous, and that makes me less coherent, and that just makes people more curt and rude. And the cycle continues. And I wonder if I'm in the wrong line of work.
