Mistaken Identity 29-43

(As always, see all the Mistaken Identities here.) This latest batch includes:
  • The cliffs where Other Me's father and she used to go
  • Other Me's breast screening appointment (very important)
  • Anthony's moving sale (and the fact that his missus is apparently a purger)
  • Other Me's application to teach vacation Bible school
And more. From Vegas, Milwaukee, Southern California, London, and more. (The Other Me's get around.)

Hi Sarah,
try this latitude 48 degrees, 7' (minutes), 51.2 " (seconds?) NORTH
longitude 89 degrees 37' 22.9" WEST
altitude 1450 feet
this should put you right where we used to stand looking out over the cliff if you rotate so that instead of looking down on it you are looking across at the other hills
pretty neat. the landscape looking west and south should look familliar.
you can kinda fly around like that too. without crashing
cabin side is too poor a definition but the topo map is good.
have fun exploring
love Dad.
real map to follow.

Heads up, I'm moving, and the lady says my furniture is not! All the air conditioners are already gone, but the rest must go. If you ordered a book and never picked it up, it's for sale, along with the rest of the art I have compiled in the last 10 years. (that I haven't sold or given away already) Some of the art available, has a photo on myspace. Search Everythings a book. Also many of my baseball cards are up for hock, cards from the 50's to present -$0.01 to $100. If you collect coins or stamps your in Luck! because I don't have any idea what they are worth! but they date as far back as the late 1800's. Also available, kitchen table set , crap, shenanigans, things you don't need, my liver, fake id's, my sister's cat! a bunch of Tupperware with no lids, silk ties and some old pizza I found in the fridge.
PeAce,
Anthony

Mistaken Identity 22-28

I'm figuring out part of the problem. I've had Gmail since being a beta tester in April 2004, but in October 2005 a trademark dispute caused Gmail in the U.K. to become "Googlemail". So there's some glitch whereby emails addressed to firstname.lastname@googlemail.com come to me at firstnamelastname@gmail.com.

Thing is, I don't know how to fix that. I wish Google was as alert as some companies (Outlook and Buzzlogic and Plaxo, I'm talking to you) to who's talking about them in this whole blogosphere Twitterverse place. I've tried to find someone to explain this to, but the Google monolith remains silent and implacable.

Mistaken Identity 19 and 20

I am not the Other Me who will be attending the librarian conference meeting Sunday night at the library at Park Elementary School. Although I do agree both that it's a shame Jane's home renovations preclude the meeting being at her house, and that it's still nice of her to bring coffee and bagels. I also appreciate the new speaker suggestions that have been brought forward.

I'm also not the Other Me who just booked a trip with 1-800-CRUISES. (Sadly.)

22 February 2008

Mistaken Identity 17 and 18

I am not the Other Me who reserved the Computer Services Departments' Collaboration Room 234 at Marshall University for Monday evening.

And, thank God, I am not the Other Me from Washington State who contacted the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers to find juvenile inpatient treatment for her son, who has one felony conviction and is facing another.

(I do, however, now have exactly one result when I search my Gmail for "felony".)

Mistaken Identity 16: New Year's Resolutions

Other Me the Actor: Katie tells Other Me that the The Conservatory in Merced, CA is beginning classes again for the new year, and auditioning for Stories Under the Big Top.

Other Me the Spa Aficianado: Ruth tells Other Me that the Biella Spa in Tacoma, WA has a variety of specials for the new year. The new Ionithermie treatment looks especially appealing.

Other Me the Correspondent: Charlene tells Other Me to update her address book as she's no longer using her Plaza Research work email for personal conversation. Also, she's moved. And finally, she has difficulty, she can't spell "wean off".

Other Me the Healthy (I hope): In a sadder turn of events, Other Me registered for a discussion forum WITH MY EMAIL at Macmillan Cancer Support, based in the Isle of Man (UK). And I'm not sure who Ashley and Thomas are, but they're involved in Other Me's password so I'm guessing they're family members.

Mistaken Identity 15: The UK's Other Me

  • Thanks to deewee sending me "my" resume, I now know that about Other Me, nicknamed Sal, is a beautician in Ireland, having gained extensive experience while traveling, including "male and female waxing, especially Brazilian waxing" while in Brisbane. Other Me also spent time at the hysterically named Ouch Waxing express studio in Sydney.
  • Tanya and Katie invited me to "A Halloween Party for the Boo-tiful People." Sadly, I can't make it.
  • Kays keeps trying to send Other Me her order but she isn't receiving it. Shame.
  • Orange is offering Other Me a sweet deal on phone service. (...And with that, I am now officially receiving Other Me's spam.)

Weekly Roundup: Mistaken Identity Edition

I know it's been a while, so let's review what we've learned since our last installment, shall we?
  • I am not the Other Me who just ordered 76 GBP worth of plus-sized undies from Simply Be to be delivered to her home in Swansea.

  • I am not the Other Me who requested an email of "Murder Mystery Pics" from Cory of McCaffrey Mysteries, Inc., a 501(C)3 Non-Profit Organization Benefiting the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Animal Rescue League of Western Pennsylvania. But it's nice that Cory appreciates the coverage (???) that Other Me gave her.

  • I am not the Other Me who went to Marshall University and wants tickets to their new Artists Series. Particularly not Martin Short, thank you.

  • I am not the Other Me who has time to catch Robyn for a drink after work on Thursday, even if she does have a rental car and so can meet me.
I should try to figure out some day exactly how many Other Me's there are going on here. It's got to be a few at this point.

18 July 2007

Mistaken Identity 10, 11 and 12

The latest instalments:

1. Other Me gets around for the Christmas holidays.
A full travel itinerary, Tampa to Denver to San Diego to Tampa, Dec. 15-21, with Josh

2. Is Other Me an airplane designer? Flight attendant?
Hope I got this email address right! Was just reading an article about the new Boeing Dreamliner and thought of you! You must be touched I know! :P How are you??? New house? I cant wait to come see it (and yes I did just invite myself over :P) You just had or are having your anniversary right?
alright should get back to work, miss you!
Dana

3. Other Me is invited to a party for a union lobbyist.
As some of you may know the Purple Wave (i.e. SEIU) is taking me to Arizona on Monday the 16th for an organizing position!
I dont know how long it's going to last (at least a month) but odds are no matter what I'm going to be on the road for this new job at least 6 months. So, there is going to be a going away party this Friday!!!! It's also for Hannah and Jonah if you know those kids. I would love to see you before I go, so feel free to drop in for a quick hello even if your not going ot party all night. Please forward on to anyone I missed!

Mistaken Identity 9: No, I Don't Get the "Green Tomatoes" Bit Either

From: Jon Alan
Subject: Green Tomatoes

Hey, it was good to see you again tonight and I certainly hope you are not going to go out and get married anytime soon like Taylor?

Tomorrow I will call Jim Cook about your shower handle - again!!!!! He does not communicate well, so you will need to let me know if he has fixed the problem – or if he has not. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

I will think about an expensive paint job for your bathroom. Usually a 6-pack helps my thinking in a positive way. :)

Hope you have a good day!

Jon-Alan

Interesting update: Jon-Alan informs me that there is yet another email that isn't me. This Other Me has a middle initial in her email. How many of me are there?

Mistaken Identity 7: Internet Love

Aww, I totally love Other Me's mom. She's much nicer than Evil Beth.

Wow thanks for letting me know! And btw, great name!!!

What a nice lady. I hope book club was extra great.

And Christie was nice, too.

I am so sorry for the mixup. Have a great day!

I'm glad I'm finally getting to meet Other Me's nice friends.

Observation 1. Lindsey and Sarah have friends with kind of goofy parents, if they named their twin daughters Christie and Kristin. That's got to have been really confusing.

Observation 2: Sadly, the party's several states away, so I can't crash.

Observation 3. Holy crap, this is the girl's her MOTHER, for goodness' sake. Can't she get her email address right? Wouldn't you save your own daughter in your address book?

I've confirmed from the last wrong email that this girl's email address is mine, but starting with "email". So instead of "firstnamelastname@whatever.com" it's "emailfirstnamelastname@email.com". I find that dumb. But at least now I have the option to tell her that if I want.

Replies this week included:

"Hope book club was good... but I'm not your kid."

And the saga continues....

Mistaken Identity 5: I'd Probably Have Been Bad at It Anyway

Hi Sarah,
I hope you had a nice Memorial Day weekend.
I wanted to let you know that we ended up filling the Physical Therapy Office Manager position internally.
That said, I was very impressed with your personality/experience when we met and will let you know if any additional positions open up in the immediate future. Thank you for your patience & best wishes.

Mistaken Identity 3: Hope Edna's Nicer Than Beth

Today's episode finds us preparing for graduation along with Edna. Gosh, it's lucky Carol and Jackie are there to help, right?

Good luck tomorrow!

Thinking about you. It's 1:10. Michael is you today. In the thick of graduation lists. Carol and Jackie are doing letters.
In the thick of things today.
Have a great day tomorrow.

The Other Me Has Rude-Ass Friends

Okay, so as I always do, I respond to Beth's email:

Um... thanks... but I'm afraid I don't know you!! I really appreciate it though! :)

Ha ha, I'm making a stupid little joke while I'm going out of my way to tell you that you made a mistake so you can actually get your email to your friend?

Right?

I get this back:

It's none of your god damn business who this is!

What the hell, lady?

I'm not sure that she isn't kidding, but I totally want to ask her what HER goddamned problem is. But, I also don't want to waste bad karma on some crazy Internet stranger.

Why anonymous people got to mess with my head like this? It's hard enough to deal with real-life ones.

An Open Letter to the Other Me

Girl, I don't know you, but I have gotten to know a LOT about you.

We have the same name and our email addresses must be nearly the same, because I get all kinds of your mail at least once a week. Your travel arrangements, your Evites, your everything.

Like this, this morning:

hello dahling!

just wanted to tell you that... YOU ARE SOOOO BEAUTIFUL TO MEEEE. and to have a great trip to boston of course! now, i have never been to boston or any neighboring towns so i can't really offer any advice. however, steering clear of homeless folks seems like a universally good piece of advice to me!!

stay out of trouble, be safe, and have a GREAT time! i'll talk to you when you get back. i look forward to lots of stories!

xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxox (that's a lotta love, beotch!),

beth

Beth, Boston really isn't as dangerous as you seem to think it is. But yeah, I suppose that is good advice in general.

Or this from last week:

Morning!! Long time no speak !! How r u all? How's the house coming along? Done any more work to it? Work still good ? When r u off on your jollies ? Bet u cant wait . Had a look at that site it's got some great villas - still havent booked though !! Dont want to leave it too late though or will end up with dross!!
Tony in Las Vegas now been there since Monday , back early tom morn. Thought i'd enjoy the "freedom" but actually hate being on my own !!!!
Speak soon , kisses to Isobelle & Luke
xx

Rachel

Aw, guys, I'm sure your villas won't be dross, no matter how late you book. And I, too, hope Isobelle and Luke are well.

Further to additional information I have learned about you, my Other Me, I hope that you all enjoy your trip to Portugal in two weeks. And I hope your rented Renault Espace works well for you while you're there. I'm sure it will fit seven, as promised. And you got a great price booking it.

For the record, I answer EVERY SINGLE ONE of these emails and tell the person they've reached the wrong person.

Thank goodness I'm not a stalker.
